Publish Once. Promote Forever.

Most podcasters treat episodes like milk, where they promote it for two weeks, then let it expire.
I am guilty of it too at times.
But a creator puts real effort into an episode, shares it when it drops, maybe posts a few clips, then moves on to the next one. The episode sits in the archives, untouched.
Here’s what I’ve learned working on shows: podcast episodes have a long shelf life. A conversation from six months ago, hell even over a year ago can still bring in new listeners today if you give it a reason to resurface.
Some ways to bring older episodes back:
• Pull a fresh clip when a topic becomes relevant again
• Reference it in a new episode (”I talked about this with [guest] back in episode 12”)
• Reshare it when a guest hits a milestone or is in the news
• Add it to a “start here” playlist for new listeners
• It’s a holiday or observance day that meets an episode theme
• Create a blog based on one part of the discussion and link back to the full episode (I do this all the time for Safe Passages!)
Your back catalog is content you’ve already made and worked hard on, so don’t skip out on the distribution part too early.
So think about it: which episode from your archive deserves another push?
