How to Get Your Content Seen

It’s not easy to get heard but social media is a provided outlet. The majority of people turn to it for information, especially updated and new information. Just think of job searches. How many of us wait for the local paper to see the Job Wanted list? Most of us will check Indeed, LinkedIn, their official website, etc. to find out who and where is hiring.

I have had a fair share of experimenting with social media for my different clients. Some want exposure, some want to sell or raise money, all of them want to know how to gain a loyal audience.

Throughout my years freelancing, this is what I have found to be true:

1. Post regularly:

Having a schedule of posting on your platforms on a consistent basis not only helps, it is necessary. There really is no such thing as too many tweets (or posts as X calls them now) and it has shown that posting on other social media daily provides more exposure.

I personally like to use Metricool to schedule things so I know I have content going out on a regular basis. Here is my affiliate link, go check it out.

2. Tag, you’re it!

Don’t forget that sharing or tagging others involved in the content also helps. It provides more exposure to anyone who follows them! And now Instagram provides the collaborator feature so that the post can show on both accounts’ profiles. Utilize these to get the best chances to get seen.

3. Use all of the internet:

Putting your newest content in your email is another great exposure. Even if you do not have a newsletter, you can make it part of your signature for your regular work emails. Websites and apps that are meant to find random things based on interests also prove to help. These can include Reddit, StumbleUpon, and Tumblr among other apps. Think outside the X, BlueSky, Facebook and Instagram box.

4. Be quick and to the point

Especially on social media, there is so much information out there that it is important to be succinct. Respect other’s time and they will acknowledge it.

Marketing has grown and the cost has gone down but that means more content is out there. Getting people to pay attention to you has been made harder because it has become easier to reach out to people.

That doesn’t mean it’s time to give up. Remember to try posting at different times. (Metricool gives the best times to post based on the different platforms for your audience too.) Experiment, have fun, and have a two-way conversation with your followers.
